Paige Turner, the Reading Raccoon!

Hello! My name is Paige Turner, Nashville Public Library’s Reading Raccoon. Pleased to meet you!

I love to read, I love to learn, and -- best of all -- I love the library! Here are some facts about me to help us get acquainted.

Favorite Colors

Red and Blue because those are the colors on the Tennessee state flag and the flag for the United States of America!

Favorite Treats

We raccoons will eat just about anything! But my favorite treats are peanut butter, fruits of all kinds, and cat food. (I know, I’m not a cat. But their food sure is yummy!)

Favorite Fact about Raccoons

There are so many great facts about raccoons that I can’t name just one! Here are three of my favorites:

  1. The Raccoon is the official wild animal for the state of Tennessee.
  2. We raccoons might look like outlaws, but we’re one of the cleaner mammals out there! We wash all our food before we eat it. Don’t you?
  3. We are omnivores, meaning we eat both veggies and meat. But if we eat meat, we prefer things like frogs, lizards, insects, and other small invertebrates.

Favorite Books

How can I choose just one? Here are some of my favorites, which you can find at Nashville Public Library!

Why I Love Reading

Because it makes me a smarter and stronger raccoon. It takes me anywhere I want to go (castles! forbidden lands! fantastic adventures!). And it’s just plain fun. I always have a good day when I can settle into a good book.
